The Germans are on a roll with (hiring talented agencies that are responsible for) funny, but relevant car ads!

A buddy of mine did this once. Luckily realized the mistake before firing up his truck, but had to pay a shop a bunch of money to drain and clean the tank before refilling it again.

In his defense, he's British and claims that petrol pump handles are green in the UK, while here diesel is green.

Odd that in the 15 years I've owned VW TDIs (3 cars) I've only had one person say anything like "Hey, that's a diesel pump" while getting fuel.

The person responsible for this didn't know where the diesel was

I'm from continental EU and for some reason I used to think diesel was the green handle as well, and in my mind it still is. Might have been some time ago, but now it's mostly black for diesel, green for 95 and blue for 98/100.

Diesel and Gasoline have different size pump tubes, preventing you from putting Diesel into a Gas car. I know this because I once tried it by accident, and thought, "Oh, that's clever."
